The Mythical and Sacred in the collections of the Museo de Arte de Bayamón (MAB)
The permanent collection of the Museo de Arte de Bayamón (MAB) has a large number of artworks that resonate with popular veneration and mythology. The collection is made up of Puerto Rican artists and others from the Caribbean, Latin America, and Europe. On this occasion, we present part of that visual heritage in the exhibition The Mythical and Sacred. The exhibition revolves around representations of flora, fauna, and the human experience to generate a dialogue from symbolism and iconography of ancestral, mystical-fantastic, and divine elements. We propose a non-chronological reading and invite the viewer to create new narratives motivated by the similarities, contrasts, and syncretisms between the works.
