This portfolio honors the legacy of Rafael Hernández Marín in the history of Puerto Rican and Hispanoamerican music. His musical contributions lead him to over 2000 compositions including works like Preciosa, Perfume de gardenias, Campanitas de cristal, and the lullaby turned rumba, El cumbanchero. Lamento Boliviano is one of his most emblematic works, interpreted by numerous artists which reflects many of the struggles of the Puerto Rican jíbaro for survival, national identity, and independence.
