Rafael Rivera Rosa
Digital prints
Rafael Rivera Rosa inherits the printmaking tradition of his predecessors Domingo García and Lorenzo Homar through important workshops such as Workshop-Gallery Campeche and the Printmaking Workshop of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture, respectively. In 1970, he founded the Bija Workshop alongside René Pietri and Nelson Sambolín, a space distinguished for its production of political and ideological posters characterized by an aesthetic blunt and unique visual fluidity. In his artistic practice, Rivera Rosa incorporates digital prints as an extension to traditional printmaking. His portfolio El Yunque demonstrates his mastery of digital work, enhancing the abstract expressionist language that characterizes him as an artist. Digital prints has been consolidated as one of the most recurring mediums in the contemporary visual language of Puerto Rico.
