Isabel Bernal
Linocut

Isabel Bernal was the only woman, apart from Irene Delano, that worked full time as a designer in the printmaking workshops of the Community Education Division (DIVEDCO). Since her initiation in the DIVEDCO in 1957, she dedicated 30 years to the position until her jubilation in 1987. Teresa Tió affirms that “it is exceptional the participation of a woman and confirmation of historical recognition. And it is not to be missed that in an environment dominated by men and where work is realized collectively, it would be difficult for a woman artist to find her own & safe space (Teresa Tió, 2003).”
